AcoustaPLOT · Instant noise-risk assessment

Know your noise.
Make your move.

Get an instant, plain-English noise risk assessment for any address in England — using the same national datasets that inform government planning policy.

We use your address to query national acoustic datasets. We do not share your address data with third parties.
Your property, modelled

The model keeps moving behind every report.

Every report is built from your exact plot — real elevation data, Defra strategic noise maps and DfT traffic counts — not a generic postcode average.

The bit that's easy to get wrong

A fence only works if it's built to.

To cut road noise a barrier has to do three things: be solid and gap-free, be tall enough to block the line of sight to the road, and be long enoughthat sound can't slip around the ends. Miss one — as many garden fences do — and you'll barely notice. Get all three right and a real pocket of quiet opens up.

Your property

Your whole plot, mapped.

Warm is loud, cool is quiet — every metre from the road to your back fence. No site visit.

Read it at a glance

See the noise before you commit.

Modelled across your garden from real elevation data, Defra maps and DfT traffic — in seconds.

Then act with confidence

Know where to build.

Barrier design shows the height, length and returns that carve out real quiet where you sit.

Don't just read it — hear it

Play the road before you buy.

On Insight and above, we turn the numbers into sound. Hear your property at the real modelled level — traffic, not white noise — day and night, before and after a barrier.

How it works

Three steps to a clear answer

1

Enter your address

Type your postcode or full address. AcoustaPLOT locates your property and every road and railway line within range that could affect your noise environment.

2

We run the data

Our engine pulls real elevation data, Defra noise maps and DfT traffic flow for your exact location and runs the full acoustic calculation — in seconds.

3

Get your report

A clear, plain-English report: your estimated level, what it means for health and amenity, and what your options are. No acoustic jargon. No waffle.

Why the number is trustworthy

The same national data government planning uses.

We don't guess. Every assessment is built from official national datasets — starting with the measured shape of your land, mapped by laser.

Terrain

National LIDAR

Environment Agency

Laser-scanned ground heights at 1 metre resolution — the measured shape of your land, hills, cuttings and embankments that decide how sound travels.

Terrain

OS Terrain

Ordnance Survey

Britain's national mapping backbone — used to locate your property precisely and to fill ground detail wherever LIDAR doesn't reach.

Noise

Strategic noise maps

Defra

England's official road and rail noise maps — the same evidence base that informs national planning and noise policy.

Traffic

Traffic counts

Dept. for Transport

Real measured vehicle flows on the roads near you — cars, HGVs and speeds — so the noise we model reflects your actual road, not an average.

What this is — and what it isn't

  • Automated and modelled — produced by our software from national datasets, not measured at your property.
  • No site visit and no individual human review of your report.
  • Every report states its uncertainty range. Figures are estimates within that range.
  • Not suitable as the sole or primary evidence for a planning application or appeal, legal proceedings, an insurance claim, or anything else needing a precise measured level.
  • In a purchase or price negotiation it is supporting context for your own decision — not a valuation, and not a measured figure the other side has to accept.

We launched in 2026.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a real acoustic assessment or just a rough guide?
AcoustaPLOT uses the same national datasets — Defra Strategic Noise Maps, Ordnance Survey terrain data and DfT traffic counts — that inform government planning policy and professional acoustic reports. Our Barrier Design reports use the ISO 9613-2 standard, the recognised method for barrier design across Europe. Results are explained in plain English with an honest uncertainty range. They are not a substitute for a site-measured survey where one is legally or professionally required — but for most everyday property decisions they give you a well-evidenced starting point, with the uncertainty stated so you can judge how much weight to put on it.
What areas does AcoustaPLOT cover?
AcoustaPLOT covers all properties in England. Defra strategic noise maps cover major roads and railways. For roads and railways outside Defra coverage, we use DfT traffic data and our own calculation methodology.
How long does the report take?
Screening reports are generated and delivered instantly after payment — typically within 10–15 seconds. Barrier Design reports take slightly longer as they involve detailed terrain and property geometry calculations — typically 1–3 minutes.
Is my payment secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe, which is used by millions of businesses worldwide. AcoustaPLOT does not store your card details.
Can I use this report for a planning application?
The Screening, Insight, Barrier Design and Complete reports are desktop assessments based on modelled data and are not intended as replacements for a professionally conducted, site-measured acoustic survey for planning purposes. If you need a report for a planning application, our Measured Acoustic Survey survey service is the appropriate option.
My problem is a noisy neighbour, not traffic — can AcoustaPLOT help?
No — AcoustaPLOT models road and rail traffic noise from national datasets; it is not a tool for a specific neighbour, business or one-off noise dispute, and it cannot investigate or resolve one. That kind of noise is usually a matter for your local council’s environmental health team under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Noise Act 1996, who can serve a legally enforceable abatement notice where a statutory nuisance is found. Our guide on complaining about noise sets out the traffic-specific route; for anything else, your council is the right first call.
How do I know an email claiming to be from AcoustaPLOT is genuine?
Genuine AcoustaPLOT emails always come from an address ending @acoustaplot.co.uk and link only to acoustaplot.co.uk pages — we never ask you to reply with a password, card details, or your login. If you’re unsure about an email or message claiming to be from us, don’t click anything in it; contact us directly at hello@acoustaplot.co.uk instead and we’ll confirm whether it’s genuine.
Can I use this to check workplace or staff noise exposure?
No — AcoustaPLOT assesses external road and rail traffic noise reaching a residential property, to an environmental noise standard. It is not an occupational noise assessment and does not address compliance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 or any other workplace exposure duty. For staff or workplace noise, you need a qualified occupational hygienist or health and safety adviser.
